“Congress shall make no law…” begins the First Amendment.  What a concept!  Congress should pass NO law.   How often do we hear that today?  Not often enough.  The first amendment goes on to say “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech.”  What does that mean?  That’s what our show is about.

Does it mean you can burn the American flag?  Does it mean “snuff” films, films where people are filmed being killed, are ok? What about films that depict animal cruelty?  Or “obscenity”? Stossel talks to a porn producer facing 32 years in prison for producing fetish films like Milk Nymphos.  While we in America may take freedom of speech for granted, it’s important to remember how unique this freedom is.  In other countries, hundreds died in riots after a newspaper published cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed.  The Canadian government charged a journalist who published the cartoons with “discrimination.”  Most recently,  Comedy Central censored a South Park episode that featured Mohammed … while leaving in a scene where Buddha snorts cocaine.

Watch Thursdays at 8 p.m. and 12 midnight, Saturdays at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., and Sundays at 10 p.m. (all times eastern).
